Congratulations Beth Kanter: MVP for the Non Profit Technology community

Image
Beth Kanter has just won the NTEN prize given to the most valuable member of the nonprofit technology community. The great thing about Beth is that although she does great blogging , she does a lot of connecting and behind the scenes work that makes things just go better. Here is a case in point, two weeks a go I was literally on the wow 2 show over at edtechtalk and beth e-mailed me to let me know about Andy Carvin naming March 30 Stop Cyber Bullying day. Yes, I read blogs, but sometimes these e-mail prods get me going. (She sends them to me at the right time -- never sending FWD's!!! but REAL e-mails just to ME! I want to be like that -- networking for good!) She does things like this all the time. In fact, she got me on Twitter and that is how I found out about her getting the award. If you sign up for twitter, let me know I'd love to follow you! tag: Beth Kanter , NTEN , Andy Carvin , edtechtalk , nonprofit , awards , cybercompliment

Happy Cyber Compliment Day (and happy Birthday, Stephen Downes)

I've been out of pocket on spring break but returned to see that some of my friends have said that today is happy Cyber-compliment day (to make today a really Good Friday.) It also happens to be Stephen Downes ' Birthday. So, I used a cool new free service called toondoo to create a comic strip just for him . (This is a really cool service that you can use to create and post cartoons, much like teacher tube!) I do give sincere compliments to Stephen for sorting through the countless blog posts out there and adding his own commentary. The power of blogs is in adding opinion... a running commentary on life or our profession as we see it. I also give compliments to all of you who participate in this amazing, incredibly motivating edublogging community. If you're reading and don't have a blog, stop here and post a compliment to thank someone. If you blog, post and compliment others on your blog. It will be nice to hear some kind compliments. Have a good Friday! ...
