[View the story "Humor in the classroom" on Storify] I used storify to create this story about funny things in the classroom from responses people gave me on Twitter and Facebook. Thanks for taking time to share.

Funday Monday: Murphy's Laws for Teachers

A funny page of "Murphy's Laws for Teachers" will start your Monday off with a cackle. Here are some of my favorites: "Students who are doing better are credited with working harder. If children start to do poorly, the teacher will be blamed. When the instructor is late, he will meet the principal in the hall.If the instructor is late and does not meet the principal, the instructor is late to the faculty meeting. Law of the Compounding of Murphy's Law: All that has been accomplished by the insertion of the computer into the classroom is the combining of two areas covered under Murphy's Law. It is a funny page and one I hope you'll enjoy.

Ironic Photo: Digital Democracy?

Does anyone else find it ironic that when I follow this link that I cite in my highly trafficked post Making the Case for Cell Phones in School that it would take us to the Center for Digital Democracy and a page that is now firewalled?

Laughter in the Afternoon: Star Wars on a Subway Car

I needed this laugh today. This was a topic that we studied in Flat Classroom last fall - Flash mobs and the use of social networking to coordinate improvisations such as this. Of course, Improv Everywhere is doing far more than flashmobs, but this is hilarious and good for a laugh this afternoon! This is something to be aware of-- lest you be caught... well, unawares?

One of my digital film students, Will, went with us to the Flat Classroom conference in India and has a friend who told him about a Film Festival in Korea. Will showed her some of his work for my digital film class and his friend from Korea fell on the floor laughing at the comedy that he did for film class. This assignment was to use slapstick humor and a certain number of sound effects in a genre of comedy that we had discussed in class. Just for fun, this also required a lot of editing. So, I'm just sharing the video here for you which Will posted on the Ning . Just for laughs! Find more videos like this on Flat Classroom Conference I loved how my dear teacher friends Steve and Julie commented so quickly. My response was this: He is the most gifted videographer that I have ever taught and has an ability to make film's just reach right off the page. Will is a product of Flat Classroom and NetGenEd and improves with every film that he makes! This...

You want me to do WHAT?

When I saw this video today, I saw myself. This is taken from a US game where the players have to contort their body to fit the hole in the foamboard. So often, I feel like this woman... asked to do the unrealistic with the material I have to work with. I find myself saying: "How on earth am I going to do THAT!!" Hey, at least she kept her sense of humor! But, honestly, not knowing what you're expected to do and then all of a sudden, meeting the students or looking at your budget and realizing that it is impossible is a tough thing!!! I had an unrealistic cell phone budget one year that everyone agreed was impossible for me, but upper management did nothing about it. Hopeless makes us feel helpless and we end up in the water. The only way I made it through was to tell everyone... OK, don't think this is possible. It's not possible and to preserve my own attitude so I could enjoy life during the trial. This is a one time thing and...
