Student Opinion | What Would You Do if You Were President? - NYTimes.com
This New York Times lesson plan is a great way to get students started talking about if they were president. Although from back in August, this is a great place to respond or to start your discussions about this topic.

The woodmen of the world had a "if I were president" competition sometime back, but I think since this is an election year, it is time to bring back some sort of competition like this to our students. You can see the recording of this student's speech on this news media page. This might be a great activity for the fall or even as a summer assignment to begin researching and writing speeches.

Queen or King for the day - Resources - TES

Alice in Wonderland in 20 minutes - no,I'm not kidding. This cute little script is one that you can use to put on a short show. Perhaps this is one for ending the year (if you're finishing in June) or to plan to start next year. Looks to be upper elementary or middle school level.

The Middle School Mouth: Interactive Notebooks - Yet Again
A middle school teacher known only as "Seldy" shares his interactive language arts notebook in this blog post. The notebook is truly something special but even more astounding, he acknowledges that many of the pages he found on Pinterest. Pinterest is ideal for teachers and makes it super easy to share. (I have a Pinterest for beginners post for those who want an invite.) if you teach upper elementary into high school language arts, take time to peruse this notebook. Nice work!
